Alan Tierney's Music
Welcome to Alan's website. Alan Tierney is a singer/songwriter living in County Tipperary, Ireland since 2022. Songwriters are storytellers and some of the stories he tells are clear, others more subtle but they are songs people can relate to.
He has released some of his demo recordings in CD form. The first one is entitled "Songs I Wish I Could Remember" and the second, "The Light That I Stand Under". Both are available for download on various sales platforms and can also be heard on Spotify.
New Single
"A Place to Fix My Wings" is the new single from Alan Tierney. Written and recorded by himself in Ireland it will be available for download and can be heard on Spotify from Monday July 7th.

The Light That I Stand Under
This is the second collection of demos he did at Sound Factory. First at at their Walldorf Studio in Germany and then completed in their relocated studio at Bad Schönborn.
Most of the tracks were recorded by Jörg, Siggi and Alan. When Jörg came down with a serious bout of Covid-19 Michael Quast (aka Amandus) came in to help finish. Together they recorded 'The Torch Singer' which Inna sang and then 'A Middleton Waltz', a homeage to Alan's birth place in Northwest Manchester. Alena and Natascha Zundl also helped with the recording of 'The Way You Are', the track from which the album's tittle is taken from. Ollipix shot the photograph underneath a lantern in Schwetzingen, near Heidelberg in Germany and the artwork and cover design Alan did himself. The black and white picture inside the booklet was taken by Inna.
Alan entered two of these songs, both Irish, in the UK Songwriting Contest, both of them in the Acoustic & Folk category. 'Loved and Lost' reached the semi-final and the other number 'At the Dance (You Can Dance Your Teardrops Away)' even reached the final.

Songs I Wish I Could Remember
Alan says "It's very strange, but I cannot remember most of my songs by heart. Some of them I play often at home on my acoustic guitar but I still get the words mixed up. So that's why I gave the album its' title."
He entered three of the songs in the UK Songwriting contest all of them in different categories. 'The Sign' was entered in the Pop category, 'At Edna's Place' in the Jazz/Blues category and 'Hamburg On a Rainy Day' under Adult Contemporary. All of them reached as far as the semi-final.

Collaboration
Here are some of the musicians and artists who played a major role in the making of the CD's.
First of all Inna Ligum. Inna is a professional singer, vocal coach, painter, photographer and so on. She took many of the photos used here on this website. She also co-manages and owns Ocean One Records who put out the CD's also sang the lead vocal on "The Torch Singer", one of the most popular numbers on the second CD.
Below is a group photo (also taken by Inna) of the four musicians who collaborated on the first album. From L to R: Jörg Schreiner (also known professionally as "Schreiner"): He was responsible for drum programming, acoustic guitar and keyboards, Siggi Zundl: Engineer, electric guitar player, backing vocalist, studio owner and co-owner of Ocean One Records, Alan & Jessica Heck: lead and backing vocalist on some of the tracks from the first album.
Bottom right is Michael Quast who arranged and played most of the instruments on the last two tracks of the album "The Light That I Stand Under".
Not pictured are Natascha and Alena Zundl, Inna and Siggis equally talented daughters who between them played piano, bass and keyboards on the track "The Way You Are" from the second album.
Responsible for the album covers/artwork was Alan. The cover picture for the first album was taken by himself on Lake Constance and the second picture was taken by Ollipix from Schwetzingen, Germany.
